How does it Work?
In partnership with USAID and others, Grillo has developed a seismic network in Mexico and Chile. These sensors send motion data to the cloud every second where we are able to detect (faster than others), if an earthquake is happening. At this point we send alerts to any schools that will experience shaking.
Other systems do not have the coverage to reach small communities, or the ability to send alerts only to the ones that are vulnerable to shaking.
We are working with a variety of foundations and private companies to expand our alarm system to new communities, aiming to protect more than 25 by end of 2019. Each alarm device also contains a seismic sensor which will help us expand our network and offer even faster alerts.
